OUR EDUCATIONAL MODEL

About Our School Programs

At Shar'ah Group of Virtual Schools, education extends beyond academic achievement. Our programs are intentionally designed to cultivate intellectual ability, practical competence, character, confidence and social responsibility as part of a comprehensive approach to developing the whole man.

Student development and educational growth
Holistic Development
01

Our Standard Education Model

Every student participates in our Standard Education Model (SEM), which forms the foundation of the Shar'ah educational experience.

At every stage of development, students are expected to master the applicable National Standard Curriculum (NSC). This academic foundation prepares learners for Jamaica's national external assessments, including the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC).

Where appropriate, students are also given the opportunity to pursue advanced pathways such as the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and/or the internationally recognised SAT.

02

Learning Beyond Academics

Academic development is complemented by structured opportunities for personal, creative and practical growth. Each student is entitled to select two clubs from our diverse range of extracurricular offerings, with choices extending from Art and Craft and Drama to Chess, Coding and Money Management.

Students are also enrolled in our Special Education System, providing a framework through which individual learning needs can be identified, supported and developed.

Shar'ah Special Education Program

Every Child Must Learn. Not as a slogan, but as a measurable educational commitment.

A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Beyond Special Needs Education

Conventional Special Needs Education is generally designed to accommodate students with identified disabilities, learning differences, or exceptional educational requirements.

The Shar'ah Special Education Program takes a fundamentally different approach. It is not a special-needs program and is not limited to a particular category of students. Instead, it is a systematic mastery framework designed to ensure that every student achieves genuine proficiency across every subject area.

Our objective is simple: identify gaps, understand their causes, intervene appropriately, and continue supporting the learner until mastery is achieved.

HOW IT WORKS

A Structured Pathway to Mastery

Shar'ah Student Proficiency Tracker (Shar'ah SPT™) continuously monitors students' proficiency and determines the appropriate level of intervention. Each stage builds upon the previous one.

01
ASSESSMENT

Shar'ah SPT™

Students are periodically assessed through the Shar'ah Student Proficiency Tracker, which monitors mastery across learning objectives and subject areas.

02
FIRST INTERVENTION

Teacher Re-teaching

Where mastery has not been demonstrated, the student's teacher revisits the relevant lesson using targeted instruction before another assessment is conducted.

03
SECOND INTERVENTION

Special Education Practitioner

If additional support is required, the lesson is delivered by a specially trained Special Education Practitioner using individualized instructional strategies.

04
ADVANCED INTERVENTION

Senior Special Educator

Where mastery remains elusive, the student enters a controlled learning environment under the guidance of a Senior Special Educator for deeper intervention.

05
ROOT-CAUSE ASSESSMENT

Psychological Assessment

If academic intervention has not resolved the difficulty, the student progresses to psychological assessment to identify possible cognitive, emotional, environmental, or other barriers to learning.

06
THE OBJECTIVE

Mastery Achieved

The process continues until the appropriate support has been provided and the student demonstrates genuine mastery of the required learning objective.

COMPLETE VISIBILITY

Parents Stay Informed

Shar'ah SPT™ maintains a continuous record of the student's progress throughout every stage of the intervention process. This creates a detailed learning profile that allows educators to make informed decisions based on evidence rather than assumption.

Parents have direct access to this information, providing unprecedented visibility into their child's educational development, areas of strength, areas requiring attention, and progress toward mastery.

WHEN THE BARRIER IS NOT ACADEMIC

Understand the Barrier. Resolve It.

Persistent difficulty does not necessarily mean that a student is incapable of learning. Sometimes the barrier lies outside the lesson itself.

When intensive academic intervention has not produced mastery, our process moves beyond conventional academic assessment. Psychological assessment is used to investigate potential cognitive, emotional, environmental, or other factors that may be affecting the student's ability to learn effectively.

The purpose is not simply to identify a problem. It is to understand the learner and determine the appropriate pathway toward resolution.

OUR EDUCATIONAL COMMITMENT

Every Child. Every Subject. Every Level.

Shar'ah SPT™ is an integral component of our Standard Education Model (SEM). It therefore applies to every student, across every grade level and every subject area, without exception.

Parents are not required to pay an additional fee for this intervention. The complete system is incorporated into the standard school fee because we believe that ensuring a child learns should never be considered an optional service.

SHAR'AH NON-ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

SHANOA™ Programs

Education should prepare young people not only to understand the world, but to participate meaningfully in it. SHANOA™ transforms learning into opportunity through structured experiences in employment, entrepreneurship, mobility and wealth creation.

Shar'ah Business

Shar'ah Business introduces students to entrepreneurship by placing them in small development teams of two or three to conceptualize and develop viable business ideas. Students apply academic knowledge to real commercial decisions, moving from ideation and assessment to execution and management.

Proposed ventures undergo an initial assessment by the school board before being forwarded to SEE officials for final evaluation. Where a proposal is determined to be viable, SEE and its partners may finance and develop the enterprise on behalf of the student founders.

Students participate in real-time business management, make operational decisions and earn from the enterprises they help develop. Most importantly, students retain ownership of their businesses after graduation.

Beyond driving instruction, the programme is designed as part of a broader transition-to- adulthood pathway. Students are supported in obtaining essential identification and civic documentation, including national and tax identification and social security documentation, where applicable.

The objective is to help graduates enter adult life better prepared, documented and equipped to participate responsibly in society.
